In the early years of Hong Kong, the British ship “HMS Sulphur” conducted meticulous geographical survey and mapping in the northern coast of Hong Kong Island. Along the coast, the British had discovered a bay of concave land. Without a sign of human activities it seemed there was an artificial causeway along the bay. Because of the interesting “landmark”, the British named the coast Causeway Bay.
