Busan Sea Art Festival 2019

Busan Sea Art Festival 2019
Busan Art Festival is held at the bathing beach in Busan, Korea. The art festival of 2019 was held at Busan Dadaepo Bathing Beach, with the the theme “Sea of Heartbreak”.
Art Together had been invited to bring our local art to Busan so that the Korean audience could experience different art concepts.
《Sea of Heartbreak》
Don Gibson’s song “Sea of Heartbreak” describes a seaman’s yearn for his lover. The lyrics “the lights in the harbor don’t shine for me” created a vision of a dark, hopeless ocean. Though heartbreaking, people could weep along the music, seeking comfort for our hopelessness and filling our empty heart with the boundless ocean in front of us.
The theme of 2019 Sea Art Festival is “Ocean”. In other words, the exhibition theme revolves around “environment” and “ecological system”. The exhibition was divided into three sessions. Audience could interact with the artists in various ways. In these exhibitions, visitors could participate in both active and passive manners, while the artists participate as one of the creators, rather than the only creator.
2019 Sea Art Festival was not merely about art. It was also a platform for participants and audience to experience different issues by themselves, like “ecology”, “environment”, “reuse” and “healing”. The exhibition further offered an opportunity for people to reconnect art and our daily lives, breaking from the notion that art and daily lives were completely disconnected concepts. By deepening people’s understanding of ecological, environmental as well as other social problems, we hope encourage people reflect on our daily lives.
