Established as a registered charitable organization in 2014, “Art Together” is a Hong Kong-based non-profit art group annually funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Art Together aims to reach more diverse communities in a mobile fashion and facilitate the infusion of art into the community by curating art projects and exhibitions at outdoor areas or public space in Hong Kong. Art Together strives to explore the social milieu from an artistic perspective. We seek to provide a platform for both the art practitioners and the public to respond to our surroundings through art creation that is intertwined with the locality’s cultural and historical contexts.

In 2008, a group of Hong Kong artists, with common visions, started “Art Together”. Since its establishment, “Art Together” has been actively seeking cooperation with various parties. In collaboration with local art groups, artists, social service groups, we go into different communities with art as the vehicle. Past projects include “Art for Survival”(2009, 2010), in which mobile art installations were rolled out onto streets of Hong Kong and Macau; “Talk 3 .Talk 4”(2012), a discussion on art held at the West Kowloon waterfront promenade; “Tape Go Go” (2013), a tape art mural project at the exterior walls of the Cattle Depot Artist Village; “In Search of the Coastline” (2014, 2019), an art parade led by artists and art students along the city’s historical coastline. Since 2015, we have held four “Under the Bridge Art Projects”. By gracing the area under the bridges with artworks of local cultural tints, the public is encouraged to reflect on the possibility of using the public space under the bridges. All these art projects aim to encourage participants and visitors to explore different perspectives in appreciating our surroundings, through connecting the districts’ cultural and historical contexts with art. From 2016 onwards, Art Together even extended such connection to nature by launching the “Sustainable Series”, hoping to connect people with nature. In 2018-2021, we hosted four “Fishpond Sustainable Art Festivals” in Tai Sang Wai. The “Breathe in the Nature” Land Art Camp has even received the Hong Kong Arts Development Council's Award for Arts Education 2018. Recently, we have been connecting with different parties in the community to explore the possibilities of participating in the community through an artistic approach, including “In Quest for the Community’s Treasure” and “Vita the Bus Stop” workshop.

Besides, Art Together is keen on collaborating with oversea art spaces through community art programs and artist exchange. Examples include “Art for Survival” in OxWarehouse Macau (2010), “Mobile Art Strollers” in Macau (2015), “Mobile Art Strollers" Hong Kong Artists-In-Residence Scheme in Waley Art Taipei (2015), “[en]counters - Bori Bunder @ Platform 8” (2016) in ArtOxygen Mumbai, “Daily Ration” Hong Kong Mumbai Art Exchange Project (2018), Artist-In-Residence Programme in openspace bae Busan (2017 & 2018), Busan Sea Art Festival (2019), etc.
